Atlantis Terre di Sardegna is part of the “Società Agricola Sannitu” agricultural enterprise. We are a family-run business in Berchidda and own vineyards covering some 16 hectares – primarily for Vermentino di Gallura wine. We are located close to the Emerald Coast and within the “Vermentino di Gallura” triangle, which is formed by the towns surrounding Mount Limbara – Berchidda, Monti and Tempio Pausania. The land here is perfectly suited to wine-growing, with sandy soils thanks to a high granite content. Combined with the salty wind from the sea, this creates the ideal micro-climate for the vines grown to produce Sardinia’s only wine in the prestigious DOCG classification, “Vermentino di Gallura”.
Berchidda is also home to the famous “Time in Jazz” festival, featuring jazz trombonist Paolo Fresu as founder and director.

Atlantis is steeped in legend.
It is a legend that has recently been revisited, with theorists now proposing that the Pillars of Hercules, representing the very edge of the known world, did not mark the Strait of Gibraltar, but in fact the Strait of Sicily. Beyond the Pillars lay Atlantis, an island of infinite beauty, which was sunk by Poseidon “in one fatal day and night”. The latest theories, questioning the location of the Pillars of Hercules, place Atlantis where Sardinia now lies. “Crizia” is the Italian name for the first of Plato’s dialogues that mentions the island, and this is what the main wine we produce is named after. In addition to Crizia, we also make “Maju”, a blend classified as a “Colli di Limbara” IGT red wine and produced through separate processing of Merlot (50%), Cabernet Sauvignon (25%) and Syrah (25%) grapes. The highly fragrant grape must is expertly mixed in precise proportions, resulting in a wine that is the ideal accompaniment for meat dishes and seasoned cheeses. “Maju” (the Sardinian word for the month of May) is a tribute to women. The name also represents the initials of a very special woman and mother, whose wise hands and maternal love are essential to this artisan wine and the rich aromas of tradition it radiates.
